Key Role:
Anglin Consulting Group has an opening for a Optical Engineer to  to assist with engineering and implementation of DC-Net’s Carrier Ethernet and DWDM transport services. 
The Tier 2 Optical Engineer will primarily support the Optical Transport Group (OTG) in operations and maintenance of the Carrier Ethernet network, DWDM network and related IP services.  The Optical Engineer will support engineering and implementation of Ethernet, DWDM and related IP services.  The Optical Transport Group primarily supports DC Government data centers, DC-Net’s MPLS backbone, District’s Internet Ring, Federal government agencies and non-profit organizations over the optical network.
The objective of this procurement is to assist and advise in the engineering, implementation and support of DCNET’s Government Service Provider Network supporting and connecting critical District of Columbia government infrastructure. The individual will provide ongoing operations and support of DC-Net’s Service Level Agreement with its customers based on industry expertise in requirement analysis, functional design and deployment of complex technology solutions across enterprise and service provider networks and responding to network issues. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
•    Provide hands-on troubleshooting for all network-related issues arising on the optical platform and connected switching and routing devices
•    Design and Service provisioning for Carrier Ethernet, DWDM and related IP services
•    Provide hands-on analysis and quality assurance for the DCNET optical engineering team, leveraging industry expertise and understanding of large service provider design and deployments of complex technology solutions.
•    Creating detailed As-built Documentation capturing network details in Visio diagrams, Word document and PowerPoint.

Basic Qualifications: Must possess good communications and writing skills, be organized, have ability to define and socialize new processes, able to effect change in a dynamic environment, comfortable working at many org levels, & must be team-oriented & performance-oriented.

Required Qualifications:
Computer Science, Electrical or related Bachelor’s Degree    
Understanding of OTN, ROADM, DWDM technology 10  Years
Experience provisioning Ciena 4200 and 6500 DWDM Systems 7  Years
Experience in service provider/carrier environment 5  Years
Field experience working in telecom facilities performing rack and stack, configuration and troubleshooting 5  Years
Hands-on troubleshooting of DWDM network-related issues 5  Years
Understanding of PBB-TE/MPLS-TP or Layer 2 transport technology 3  Years
Participating in customer facing discussions 5  Years
Possesses professional network diagramming skills 5  Years
Excellent communication skills (oral and written) 5  Years
Technical understanding to present complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences. 3  Years
Effectively participate in group interactions 4  Years
Outstanding inter-personal skill 4  Years
Able to provide and receive constructive feedback 5  Years
Desired Qualifications: 
Experience with layer-2 technologies: VLAN, trunking, RSTP, HSRP
Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) Carrier Ethernet certifications

This is a contract position with the District of Columbia.  This position has a minimum duration of one (1) year with option to extend based on performance and client needs.
